COMMUNITY FOOD AND NUTRITION WORKER (CFNW)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

As part of the Sláintecare Healthy Communities (SHC) Programme,
Gabrielle O’Keeffe, Head of Service, Health & Wellbeing & Strategy,
Cork Kerry Community Health Care (CKCH) – CHO4 is inviting
Expressions of Interest from organisations in the Cork City-North area
with a track record of working with disadvantaged communities to
improve physical and emotional health and wellbeing BY MANAGING THE
POST OF COMMUNITY FOOD AND NUTRITION WORKER.

The purpose of the Community Food and Nutrition Worker (CRNW) is to
support the Sláintecare Healthy Communities Programme in Cork
City-North to improve community health and wellbeing by addressing the
issues of poor diet and food poverty. It is essential the host
organisation for this post has a track record of working effectively
with disadvantage communities to deliver programmes that improve
health and wellbeing. Furthermore, IT IS DESIRABLE THAT THE HOST
ORGANISATION HAS A TRACK RECORD OF WORKING IN THE AREA OF FOOD POVERTY
AND HAS THE CAPACITY TO DELIVER ACTION ON FOOD POVERTY AT A LOCAL
LEVEL.

Organisations selected to host the post of Community Food and
Nutrition Worker (CFNW) as part of the Sláintecare Healthy
Communities Initiative will be funded to deliver a contracted level of
service in line with the existing S * Health Act
* Service Arrangement with HSE, which will
include:

* Recruitment, employment and line management of a Community Food &
Nutrition Worker
* Supporting the CFNW to undertake a review of population profiling
& food mapping of the area to identify at risk groups for health
inequalities and food poverty
* Supporting the CFNW to target at risk groups identified and
develop appropriate supports based of National Healthy Eating
guidelines (e.g. workshops, education, training, policy development
etc.)
* Ensuring interagency links & collaboration with existing food
poverty initiatives/healthy eating programmes across Sláintecare
Healthy Communities area
* Ensuring on-going communication with HSE Health and Wellbeing
Department (HP Dietitian & SHC coordinator) for professional guidance
and support on work plan.
* Supporting the worker in the coordination and activation of agreed
national campaigns that address healthy lifestyles and Healthy Food
for Life guidelines
* Providing administration/technical support
* Ensuring required monitoring and evaluation processes are in place
* Completion of reports required under the contractual agreement
with the HSE
* Financial reporting and management of budget provided
